RANCHO BERNARDO, CALIFORNIA is a gorgeous community located in the northern hills of San Diego. Many people come into the area in the summer for the RB Alive street fair, and lots of others come to visit the Bernardo Winery which is the oldest operating winery in all of SoCal. It began in 1889 and has been family owned and operated since 1927. It's also well known as the headquarters of Sony, HP, and Kodak. If you're heading into the 92128 zip code anytime soon for work or pleasure, be sure to check out these great eateries and lounges in the area!
is a wonderful French restaurant that we have come to really love in recent years! They put as much effort into the presentation of the food as they do into the preparation, and that makes for a truly elegant meal that's as much artful as it is tasteful! It's a little bit pricey, but that's to be expected at a nice French restaurant like this one, and we believe you get what you pay for here. We'd recommend the sea bass, duck, and scallops, and the mushroom ravioli appetizer is also something that's not to be missed! You can find Bernardo Restaurant on Rancho Bernardo Road between Meandro Drive and Pomerado Road.
is one of the best American steakhouses in the Rancho Bernardo area, with truly delicious steaks and seafood, as well as all your favorite sandwiches and hamburgers! We love the hunting lodge atmosphere with the wood and stone accents, and the dim and cozy atmosphere only contributes further to the authenticity of it. The Prime Rib is the essential as far as we're concerned, so don't miss it. You can find Carver's Steak & Chops at 11940 San Bernardo Plaza Drive.
is an excellent wine bar in the Rancho Bernardo area that has many European and American delights to enjoy while you sip those wonderful wines... We love to sit on the outdoor patio when the weather is warm and breezy. Beer lovers will want to take note that they've got a very nice selection of rare beers here, so you are certainly not limited to just wine. We love the cheeses, the petite lamb chops, and the delicious garlic fries. You will find the Barrel Room on Bernardo Center Drive between Lomica Drive and Rancho Bernardo Town Drive.
serves up a wonderful blend of French delicacies and Californian specialties. It's really cozy and elegant here, perfect for those special occasions or romantic dates. It's definitely not cheap to dine here, but it's clear once you walk through the door that you're in for something truly special here, so no one is surprised by the higher prices. They've got a new chef who is just as excellent as the previous one. Be sure to check out their impressive wine list too. You can find El Bizcocho at Rancho Bernardo Inn on Bernardo Oaks Drive near the intersection with Francisco Drive.
may be named after a law breaker, but the only thing criminal about this restaurant is how impossibly delicious the food is! We love the seafood dishes here the most, and the prime rib and aged steaks are also really irresistible. We've also heard that the barbecued chicken is delicious, and the mashed potatoes pair nicely with just about anything. The portions are large enough to satisfy even the biggest appetites, and you'll most likely have to take some with you! You can find Claim Jumper on Carmel Mountain Road near Rancho Carmel Drive.
is one of our favorite breweries in the area, and we love them as much for their wonderful selection of beers and microbrews as we do for the excellent service! This is one of those breweries where the beer is the main attraction and the food feels like an afterthought, but the fare that they do offer here is pretty good. It can be a little bit expensive but the service is very good and that makes it worth it. You can find Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens on Citracado Parkway near the intersection with Rancheros Drive.
is one of our favorite places to grab a hot meal and an ice cold beer! They've got lots of American favorites but what we love is their Asian flair! The Tiger Prawn Platter is probably our favorite thing on the entire menu. The beer selection is a little small, but well chosen. And the service is really out of this world, very old fashioned and friendly which is a nice contrast to the modern and upbeat environment. You can find Elephant Bar Restaurant on West Bernardo Drive near the intersection with Bajada Road.
is just great. We love to come in here and mix up our favorite combinations of stir fry ingredients, and then let those grilling experts toss it around on the grill into a perfectly blended dish. The selection may be a little small to you if you're used to a certain other Mongolian restaurant, but it's all well chosen and the prices are a bit lower than that 'other' place too! Really nice service and a great deal for lunch! You can find Stir Fresh Mongolian Grill at 17120 Bernardo Center Drive.
is a lovely Italian restaurant that has some of our favorite wines and entrees. The chef, Marco Flores, really knows how to craft dishes that will please even the most choosy tastebuds. This cafe has been going strong for at least fifteen years, perhaps more, and we find that it's one of the best places in nearby Carmel Mountain Ranch to gather with friends and have some great conversation. We recommend the della luna salad, the tournadoes gorgonzola, and the fusilli umbriaco! So delicious! You can find Cafe Luna on Rancho Carmel Drive between Carmel Mountain Road and Windcrest Lane.
... It can be difficult to find a reasonably priced sushi restaurant that serves up truly high quality and fresh sashimi and rolls, but we think we have found that perfect combination at Yummy Sushi! We love the fact that the restaurant is really large, making it perfect for private parties since most sushi restaurants are too small to accommodate everyone in your party. All of the rolls are fantastic, so fresh and flavorful. We love the spicy tuna roll the best, and even the classic California roll is a winner. You can find Yummy Sushi on Carmel Mountain Road near the intersection with Stoney Peak Drive!
