LA JOLLA, CALIFORNIA is a beautiful and scenic resort community that stretches along the Pacific Ocean in San Diego County. The beaches are absolutely gorgeous here, and that's one of many reasons to travel to La Jolla for a little vacation from it all. You may also want to come and check out Torrey Pines Golf Course, or perhaps some of the lovely shops on Prospect Street or Girard Avenue. Or maybe you're more the Museum of Contemporary Art type. Perhaps you'd like them all! If you're going to be visiting La Jolla anytime soon, you'll want to know the very best places to drink and dine in the 92037, 92038, 92039, 92092, and 92093 zip codes. And here they are.

Piatti

is a wonderful Italian restaurant where you can relax into the delicious European atmosphere and really indulge in some of the finest food you have ever tasted. We love the orecchiette, and the breads and dipping sauces are nothing short of mouth watering. Any of the pastas and entrees will serve you very well here. We love the fact that the dress code is so varied here... you can literally walk in off the beach in your flip flops, or come in dressed elegantly ready for a night on the town. Great cheesecake too! You can find Piatti on Avenida De La Playa between El Paseo Grande and Calle De La Piata.

Marine Room Restaurant

is a fabulous seafood restaurant where you can indulge in all the ocean delights that you'd expect to find in a restaurant situated on the Pacific Coast. They've got wonderful live entertainment here that really keeps it energetic, but the star of the show is really the food. It's upscale fine dining at its best, simply the greatest seafood we have ever tasted. We absolutely love the enormous windows that stretch from floor to ceiling, so you can watch the ocean while you dine on that perfect seafood. Very highly recommended. You can find Marine Room Restaurant on Spindrift Drive between Paseo Dorado and Roseland Drive.

Crab Catcher

is one of the more expensive restaurants in all of La Jolla, but without a doubt it is worth that premium price! There's nothing else like getting a beautiful window seat here and watching the waves crash while you dine on the finest seafood fresh from the Pacific. We love the crab cakes and calamari, and the prawn cocktails are also really fantastic. And stuffed mushrooms! Oh they are so delicious. Be sure to try their Sunday brunch too. You can find Crab Catcher on Prospect Street between Roslyn Lane and Ivanhoe Avenue.

Roppongi Restaurant and Sushi Bar - CLOSED

is a fabulous place to dine on some of the most delicious French food and Japanese sushi in all of La Jolla. It's a combination made in heaven, with tapas offerings and even plenty of American favorites like sliders and fried onions. We're addicted to the calamari with hazelnuts, and of course all the sushi is simply to die for. All the classic rolls are divine. You can find Roppongi Restaurant and Sushi Bar on Prospect Street between Bishops Lane and Fay Avenue.

Jacks La Jolla - CLOSED

is a lovely American restaurant right here in La Jolla where you can dine on delicious three course meals and fine wines... everything is so good. You do get what you pay for here so don't be afraid of the high prices. We love the goat cheese and the wedge salads are superb too. For an entree we'd recommend the ranch pork chops. And we love the risotto too! The steaks though, are probably our favorite thing on the menu. We recommend the filet. You can find Jacks La Jolla at 7863 Girard Avenue.

Brockton Villa Restaurant

is a great place to go if you like to dine al fresco. They've been open since 1992, and no restaurant can last that long without offering something really special to the people who dine there. It has a lovely cottage type of vibe, and there's a fun beachy style to it as well. We absolutely love having breakfast here. All their egg dishes are irresistible. This one is actually located in San Diego, and you can find it on Coast Boulevard near the intersection with Coast Walk.

Cottage

is a very cozy little American restaurant that we have come to love in recent years. The oat pancakes are the thing that we keep on coming back for, but everything on the menu is superb. Be sure to try the French toast, and the Eggs Benedict is also to die for! If you're a granola fan, you will love theirs! It's got to be homemade. It's so good. You'll have to try this place next time you're in San Diego, not far from La Jolla at all. You can find it on Fay Avenue between Silverado Street and Kline Street.

Shores Restaurant

is a lovely French place where you can dine on some of the most scrumptuous food that's available in all of La Jolla! Everything here is so fresh and delicious. Ask for a window seat to enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean, or the sunset if you come at the right time! We love their holiday brunches, and the service here is simply superb any day of the week. Very attentive waitstaff that is knowledgeable about all the menu items. Shores Restaurant is located at 8110 Camino Del Oro.

Prospect Bar & Grill

gets a lot of mixed reviews but we'd say that's because some people just don't know how to appreciate it! If you can dig a more upscale bar with a gorgeous view, then check this place out. It's a great bar atmosphere, with lots of great bar fare and excellent mixed drinks, plus a good selection of beers on draft and in bottles. The bartenders are always happy to converse with you and lead you to the perfect drink for your evening. Great live music too. Find it on Prospect Street of course, near the intersection with Ocean Lane.

La Jolla Brew House

is your spot for the best brews and great food too! The prices are surprisingly affordable for a bar in such a prime location, so you can drink and dine for a lot longer than you'd expect to on whatever budget. In terms of the food we'd most highly recommend the Cajun Chicken Sandwich! It's really addictive. The fries here are very good too. They've got a very cool Doggy Yappy Hour too so you can bring your furry friends to enjoy some dog treats. Be sure to check this place out, on Fay Avenue between Kline Street and Pearl Street.
