ENCINITAS, CALIFORNIA is one of the biggest cities in the county of San Diego, with over 65,200 citizens at the most recent census count in 2010. It's a mostly upper class area. Museum lovers will want to visit the Lux Art Institute, San Dieguito Heritage Museum, San Diego Botanic Garden, and even the historic La Paloma Theater. There are so many great things to see within the city, but no matter what you're doing, you've got to eat! So check out these great bars and restaurants in the 92023 and 92024 zip codes.
truly has some of the finest Italian food this side of Sicily we've ever tasted, and you can't beat that convenient location in Encinitas. The ambiance here is relatively casual and laid back, yet it's still romantic enough for a date. There's nothing casual about the food or the service though... it's truly top notch from beginning to end. Your entire dining experience is nothing short of exquisite. Fabulous pastas, steaks, and seafood. You will find Vigilucci's on South Coast Highway near the intersection with West E Street.
El Callejon Restaurant - CLOSED
is purely addictive, one of the very best Mexican restaurants we've ever had the pleasure of visiting. Oftentimes we'll come in just for their happy hour and those wonderful fresh lime margaritas! How could anyone pass those up? Everything is authentic and wonderful. We absolutely love the guacamole. And did we mention that salsa bar? Great tacos, burritos, and enchiladas. You'll find El Callejon Restaurant on South Coast Highway near the intersection with B Street.
is not only fun to say, it's also a really fun place to dine thanks to the great live music and eclectic decor. It's decorated to feel very beachy, and you'll feel like you've been whisked away to an island paradise while you're sipping mojitos and enjoying your meal on the outside deck. We've got three words for you: Macadamia Nut Calamari. Enough said. Very highly recommended to anyone who enjoys fresh delicious unique dishes with a touch of Caribbean and French flair! Great salads too! Located on North Coast Highway 101 between Diana Street and Jasper Street.
always gets our recommendation because of their unbelievably good pizza and pasta! We love the sweetness of the sauce here, and if you prefer your sauce a little more sweet than tangy, you will love it too. This is just your basic family friendly pizzeria, nothing fancy, so you'll feel very comfortable here and won't have to worry about dressing to the nines. We love to pair their fresh salads with the pizza or pasta. Now that's a combo that we can't resist. You can find Leucadia Pizzeria at 315 S Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas, CA 92024 near West D Street.
Savory Restaurant - CLOSED
is a wonderful casual dining establishment that focuses on fresh delicious dishes with a minimum of fuss. Everything that they offer is seasonal and local, so it's a very green dining experience that will really make you feel good. Sea Bass is their specialty and it is fantastic, but you'll have to come during dinner hours for that. The lunch menu is wonderful but very pared down compared to the dinner selections, with mostly salads and sandwiches plus a few entrees. There is no fish on the lunch menu. Great cocktails here too! Found over on North El Camino Real between Mountain Vista Drive and Via Molena.
is a great cafe that focuses on healthy vegetarian dishes. The spinach tofu is delicious! So delicious that we order that every time we visit. They've also go an Acai Bowl which we order with soy milk, and that is a true taste sensation. Great falafel too! They've got ice cream shakes that are really the perfect ending to an already perfect meal. The service is wonderful here, and we love the warm friendly ambiance that they create with beautiful decor and a caring attitude. You'll find Swami's Cafe at 1163 South Coast Highway 101.
Roxy Restaurant & Ice Cream
brings you the best of two worlds, restaurant and ice cream parlor. Sometimes we come in for both, and sometimes we just stop in for a quick ice cream. They've got a great variety of foods here, from American to Italian to Mexican, from pizza to pub fare, from wraps to sandwiches. They really do have it all here! You can find this great restaurant over on 517 S Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas, CA 92024 nearby West E Street!
Beachside Bar & Grill
is great for the beer lover who wants to kick back with a cold one and enjoy a night away from it all. The service here is so fast and friendly, very old school like the way it was back in the day. The food is mostly just the typical bar fare, but it's very good, and we really love the huevos rancheros. Really great beer selection here, and plenty of TVs you can see where ever you are sitting. Located conveniently on South Coast Highway 101 between West G Street and West H Street.
Daley Double Cocktail Lounge
is THE dive bar of Encinitas. If you're looking for the high class bars with the fancy martinis and leather seating, stop reading here. Daley Double is dark and old fashioned, with your standard bar fare and drinks. The prices are about as cheap as you can get, and the crowds that come in here are pretty friendly and relaxed. You'll be able to find Daley Double Cocktail Lounge at 546 S Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas, CA 92024!
Firefly Grill & Wine Bar
gets one of our very highest recommendations, mostly because they have such a wonderful wine list and a really warm and inviting ambiance that you won't find elsewhere in the city. The entrees are all very good, and they pair nicely with the wines that they serve here. We love the cheese plate, the chicken marsala, and the schnitzel. You can create your own wine flights here! You can find Firefly Grill & Wine Bar here at 251 N El Camino Real # B, Encinitas, CA 92024.
