Here are our favorite bars and restaurants in the area!

The Oceanaire Seafood Room

is rumored to be one of the very best seafood restaurants in all of San Diego, and after several visits we can confirm that it's off the charts with flavor and great service! We love the dim intimate setting, and the beautiful music. They've got a really fine Chilean Sea Bass topped with lobster, and the sauce is infused with the delicate flavor of saffron which we adore! Really great crab cakes too, and we love the Potatoes Oceanaire. Everything here is top notch. Located on J Street between 5th Avenue and 4th Avenue.

Gaslamp Quarter

is not a bar or restaurant, but rather an area that covers sixteen city blocks in the downtown area of San Diego. They've got excellent restaurants, shops, bars, and other attractions, including fun events and festivals at certain times of the year. This is an ear that you will definitely want to check out, especially if you have never been to San Diego before! You'll find the Gaslamp Quarter in the area of 5th Avenue between G Street and Market Street, and you can find more information before you go at gaslamp.org!

Hash House A-Gogo

is one of those restaurants that is known for its enormous portion sizes, and when we say that, it's almost an understatement. It's a bit of a gimmick, so the quantity definitely takes precedence over quality, but it is very good food. We especially love the eggs benedict style dishes here... particularly Andy's Sage Fried Chicken Benedict. We would heartily recommend going on a Saturday when you can make reservations so you can skip that endless line! You can find Hash House A-Gogo on 5th Avenue between Pennsylvania Avenue and Anderson Place.

Royal India

is a nice casual and contemporary Indian restaurant, and we find that the prices are relatively affordable though certain things on the menu are a bit more on the expensive side. We love their outdoor dining area, and they also have a great bar scene here in the evenings. We would highly recommend the Navration Karma, and their Lentil Soup is fantastic too! And don't forget about that delicious Papadum Bread! Great Mango Chutney too. You'll find Royal India on Market Street between 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue.

Rei Do Gado Restaurant

has got to be one of the greatest steakhouses in the San Diego area! They've got a wonderful salad bar that is always fresh and crisp, and nice and cold, and there are very exotic selections available there too. You'll love the Brazilian barbecue style dishes. Truly some of the best tasting meat you'll ever have. You will find Rei Do Gado Restaurant on 4th Avenue near Broadway.

The Field

is a wonderful restaurant that features great European and Irish dishes that you simply won't find anywhere else. It's actually more of a combination bar and restaurant, with the downstairs functioning as a boisterous Irish pub and the upstairs being a more elegant restaurant setting. It's been in business since 1998 and it's probably one of the more inexpensive establishments in the area. We love the snake bites, the shepherd's pie, and the fish and chips! The drinks are very good here too. The Field is located on 5th Avenue between Market Street and Island Avenue.

Il Fornaio

gets our recommendation almost as much for the view as it does for the food! We absolutely adore the outdoor seating area which really gives you a great scenic view. They've got delicious bread to enjoy while you wait for your meal, and if you sit indoors you will enjoy real candlelight, which is something that too few restaurants offer nowadays. It's very romantic. We love all the Italian food here, including the roasted chicken and all of the pasta dishes. You'll find this fabulous restaurant on 1st Street near the intersection with C Avenue in nearby Coronado.

Altitude Sky Lounge

is one of the most upscale night clubs and bars that you'll find in San Diego. The view is extraordinary. They've got a gorgeous open air bar that will really catch your eye too. But the food is probably the main attraction here, with the delicious Thai food, Greek food, fish tacos, and much more. It's a wide array of flavors that seem like they wouldn't go together very well, but somehow they harmonize perfectly. This is truly the best view you'll find in the city, so you'll at least want to visit once while you're here. You can find Altitude Sky Lounge on the rooftop at 660 K Street.

Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery

is tucked away in the Gaslamp area of downtown San Diego, and you'll pay a lower price for a great time here than you will at many other establishments nearby. This is actually a chain brewpub that had its start in the midwest, and it made it all the way here because it's so good. We really enjoy the filet mignon, and the pulled pork sausage is very flavorful too. You will be able to locate Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery on G Street between 4th Avenue and 5th Avenue!

Dublin Square Irish Pub & Restaurant

is our favorite Irish pub in San Diego, and the reasons for that are numerous! The ambiance is pure Irish pub, one hundred percent. The food is top notch, and the beers on tap are plentiful and always ice cold just as they should be. The service is outstanding! And the happy hour prices are nothing short of incredible. They've got a lot to do here including games and live entertainment, plus a very nice outdoor seating area too. You can find Dublin Square Irish Pub & Restaurant on 4th Avenue between Market Street and Island Avenue!
